Buying energy efficient products just got a lot easier
Are you looking to buy an electrical appliance in the near future? Want to know how much energy it uses, and how much it could add to your household electricity bills? The current labels found on electrical appliances in shops can be confusing – flooded with lots of colours, graphical icons and numbers that are difficult to understand. But there is another way.
PocketWatt is a new web tool that you can use on your smartphone or computer that makes learning about and comparing energy efficiency, performance and consumer benefits of a product simple. It will tell you how much an appliance will cost to run, and you will be able to compare both the energy efficiency and running cost of different products directly on your smartphone or tablet. This will all be possible both in store and through retailer websites, so no more trawling through endless web pages before you take the plunge. You can walk into a store, or check online at home, safe in the knowledge that all the latest information you need is right there at your fingertips.
The online tool was successfully trialled in Spain and the UK in the first half of 2017 - see evaluation of the pilot phase here - and it will be officially launched in 2018 in shops across Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK. Check out PocketWatt or contact us if you want to learn more about the project.
